Ouch

Well, I’ve had a month off from my other job - refereeing, and last night I had my first game since before the winter mule deer hunt. During the game wasn’t so bad - but sleeping last night was real bad and any kind of movement today isn’t real good! I thought because I’d spent my off time hiking around in the mountains and stuff that I’d still be in condition for refereeing - boy, was I wrong! I suppose getting up and down a basketball court does require the use of different muscles than getting up and down mountains in the snow. My body had just finally recuperated from the hunting trip and I was just starting to feel like I could move without something hurting when I had this game last night.

Nothing to report on the hunting front. I am planning to head out on Friday with my buddy, John Villanueva, to hunt some coyotes. My brother, Todd, and I will probably go out again Saturday after the predators. I’ve gotten to where I really enjoy these predator hunts. I think a coyote is one of the hardest animals to call close because they’re so cautious and suspicious by nature. So, we’re glad we don’t have to call them close - a couple hundred yards is close enough for the .243 both Todd and John shoot, and certainly close enough for my .270 (Maybe I should invest in a varmint gun, but at the moment the funds are not available).
