Dottie is Dead

I thought it was worth a mention here.

Looks like Dottie, the big Dixon Lake bass that has created quite a stir over the years in the world of bass fishing world record chasers, has passed on due to natural causes.  She was spawning out right up to the end so maybe some of her “little ones” will have the genes to take her place as “the big one.”

Interesting that Jed Dickerson her long time pursuer says he feels the record will never be broken now.  I find it hard to believe as records are made to be broken and someday, somewhere out there is a bass that will top the world mark.  But of anyone it sounds like he should know just how hard it is for a bass to grow to “Dottie’s” size.  It really is impressive how long the record has stood up with all the attention and the rush of fishermen who make it their obsession to break onto the top of the record book.
