Once again, I was furnished with a great story this weekend from Gary Beldsoe and felt compelled to try and relay it here as it was told to me.
ShareThis“I knew an old boy once that was obsessed with making money - it was a bug and it had him bad. I was driving through the canyon from up North one day and it was wildfire season and the smoke was so thick in that canyon a body could hardly see. So, I met this guy in at the local restaurant and told him I knew of a business venture where he could make a lot of money - and he could get in on the ground floor. He looked at me and his eyes got big and he said, ‘Really, what is it?’ I knew I had him.
I said, ‘Well, I was taking a load of seed through the canyon recently, and there was a guy that had a roadside stand up there - I guess he’s selling a new sight for a rifle.’
Now, I knew this old boy was a big outdoorsman, so I knew I’d grab his attention. And I did.
He asked, ‘What is it called?’
So I told him, ‘Well, it’s called a cough site.’
‘Well, Gary, what does it look like?’
I said, ‘It looks about like my hearing aide and it just clips right on to the top of the rifle. Since you can’t see anything in that canyon, you just walk around with the rifle pointed in front of you - if it hears an elk cough, it fires the trigger. But you have to be careful because there’s smokers out there, too.’
You know that old boy was a smoker himself and on top of falling for my story - he wouldn’t speak to me for months!”

That is funny!
My Dad is from Kentucky and every story he tells starts with, “I knew this old boy…” that is the cue for those of us who have heard the story for the 36th time to get up and leave.’
Cute story!
