Well, my dad posted about the boat he remembers while growing up in Minnesota, so I thought it would only be fair to mention the boat I remember when I was growing up in Eastern Oregon. I’m not sure what kind of boat it was, but I do know that I always trusted it like I would trust a gold toothed bank robber.

Sometimes life shoots you a little curve and all you can do is smile and go on. I don’t know how long its been since I’ve really been embarassed, but a couple weeks ago I actually got caught in an embarrassing situation and it all started with my closet no less.
Continue readingSince I’ve decided to whip myself into shape, my wife decided she would gladly do whatever it took to help so we’ve been going for jogs around the mountains nearby. Thursday, we decided to head up a little further into the mountains and found that maybe that wasn’t the wisest choice.
Continue readingYou all know how the Garth Brooks song goes - Well, this post from Cory over at Outdoors International got me to thinking about the sad state of me. I can’t remember ever being concerned about being in shape before. It just flat never was something for me to worry about. Other people worried about it - not me. Things that remind us of a place, a beauty, a danger, any memory for good or bad can be, if not a physical trophy, a mental trophy.
Continue readingA post a while back from The Hunter’s Wife got me to thinking - always a dangerous thing for me - about the outdoor terms I learned as I was growing up. I imagine that from different parts of the country, the same things may have different meanings - but here is what I learned:
Continue readingGreat question, huh? You ask Dagwood and he’d probably say his kitchen or to be more precise, he’d say behind the door of the fridge. Anyway it seems to be where we have the things that we have the greatest memories of. Course to some it is where they hang their objects they can brag about.
Continue readingI’m sure you’ve all seen the famous picture of the magnificent seven - well, at my folks’ place, we started seeing six bucks wander through the backyard every couple weeks. When four bucks showed up in the backyard this spring, we were convinced they were part of the same group.
