I never really realized how cool looking brown trout are. They’ve got a lot more color in them than I give them credit for - I always thought they were kind of an ugly trout compared to a rainbow, but your pics have given me cause for reconsideration!
Never thought of the Owyhee as trout water - just drove over it on the way to hunting deer on South Mountain or Juniper Mountain. Sailed a couple arrows over big bucks near the top of South Mountain.
On another occasion I watched an archer chase deer in the dark and attempt to shoot at deer while standing in his car headlights. Later, during the day, he stopped to tell me about all the four point bucks he’d been seeing - didn’t know I’d been watching.
Man, that’s a fat “football” of a fish. I love fishing the Owyhee. Great place. Big fish. Tight Lines.
Rich-The Owyhee river below the Dam for about 12 miles is an incredible Brown Trout fishery. There are some Rainbows in there too but the majority of the fish are big mean browns.
Cory-Yep the Owyhee is quickly becoming one of my favorite rivers. The fish are just consistently big. I don’t think I have caught any less than 16 inches this year and have landed a bundle that where pushing to exceeding the 20 inch mark. Tight Lines!
