“Fun when you’re done”

These were my famous words after a several mile hike to Twin Lakes.  I felt that way after that hike and that is about how I feel after hiking or of any outdoor experience like hunting and hiking around the mountains in search of elk.  I love the outdoors and love to go with Tom hunting and would love to be with him when he shoots his first animal with a bow!  I loved being in elk country and hearing an elk bugle for the first time!  I will never forget this or when last year while we hunting we heard the elk bark!  It sounded just like dogs barking!  That was truly fascinating!  So why do I say it is fun when  your done?  Well after the experience are the memories and the feeling of accomplishment that I hiked several miles and I survived!  I love the memories and that feeling of accomplishment!  I do not love the way I feel while I am tromping around in the mountains.  For some reason I get a headache, get lighted, and dizzy and feel as though I could fall over with each step.  I suppose that the body is not used to the abuse of hiking in steep country after it hasn’nt done much all year! It is time to do something about that condition and train and some day I can enjoy the experience during the experience!  until then it is fun when it is done!

Hmmm funny how Tom feels the same way when we are in a shopping mall.  Maybe there are some things that we will never enjoy doing together!  I do hope that I will be enjoy that outdoors though.  There are many more fascinating and awesome discoveries in nature than there are under the florescent lights of the shopping mall!  Hmmm those give a headache too!

A Girly Girl

I don’t like to think of myself as a girly girl, but after reading some of the blogs Tom has a written I am beginning to wonder if I am in fact a girly girl. I will have to admit that when it comes to certain things I may be classified as such. I love to fish but I have Tom put the worm on the hook and take the fish off! This could be why I catch more fish when we go fishing (just kidding). What I love most about these hunting and fishing experiences is that I get be with my husband and participate in something he is passionate about doing, and…well, being outside and getting a tan. Wait did that sound too girly? Someone mentioned something about the pink arrows for my bow. I didn’t even realize they were pink till that was mentioned. They are just neon colored so I can see them! And hey they do match the shirt I am wearing! When I think of myself as not girly I mean that I don’t like flowers. Ummm I mean I don’t like flowery and frilly things! I know a couple of women who do like those things and I don’t think of them as girly they still enjoy hunting and the outdoors! I sound more girly about the outdoors then these women, but on my defense I didn’t do much of these things growing up. I have done more fishing in last four years then all the 21 previous years before I knew Tom, and for sure more hunting! Dad took me fishing on occasion but never hunting! Last year while hunting, what Tom called our camp was our sleeping bags thrown on the side of the hill. I call a camp a flat spot where I can set up my tent, a fire pit and bathroom facilities! I’m a girl I am entitled to be girly! I am not a frilly girl!
